On metrisability of some special functions

Abstract

We study the second order ordinary differential equations satisfied by the following special functions: Bessel function, hypergeometric function, Weierstrass elliptic function. We prove that all these equations are metrizable and construct explicitly the corresponding metrics. We show that in all mentioned cases the geodesic equations admit a first integral, which is linear in momenta.
